“I’m not trying to be no damn sex symbol. Lady Twist is not here to be sexy, let the record reflect that. Lady Twist is here to entertain.” And so she does. Below the rapper-cum-soon-to-graduate journalism student (commencement’s on Friday — congratulate her!) talks about being gay, being big and being unwilling to let anything get in the way of her career...

Hip Hop DX

This week, HipHopDX chops it up with the multitalented cast-off about the many hats she wears (including being a budding journalist, comedian, and radio host), why Soulja Boy needs to “Crank Dat Dictionary”, and whether or not ‘ size matters’ within the industry...

Miss Rap Supreme wrap party recap

When you’ve got big ending, you’ve gotta have a big party. There was lots of fun at the Miss Rap Supreme bash last night at Brooklyn’s Southpaw club. The ego trip team knows about crafting a proper throw-down, and with several of the femcees in the house, and inimitable Sacha Jenkins playing host, the action was non-stop. A somewhat crazed audience watched the final episode together, got caught up in the show’s spirit, and partied down as each of the ladies (including winner Rece) gave us a taste of their skills. Five great moments, you ask? Let’s count ‘em down...

Fake Shore Drive

Last week, after Chicago's Lady Twist was unfairly and unjustly booted from the program, I did a write-up in honor of our fallen Windy City sister. I later reached out to Twist for a statement regarding her thoughts on the ruling and her plans for the future...

Out Hip Hop.com

Lady Twist is probably the only out hip hop artist we will feature for an exclusive interview that does not yet have a CD of original non-mixtape material out. Yet, that doesn't stop her from being relevant and worth an Exclusive Interview. She was an out Lesbian rapper on Vh1 Ego Trip's Miss Rap Supreme. She wasn't playing a role, she was being herself. She also won the most votes of who should be interviewed next by the readers of OutHipHop.com. So here you have it. We think it's a great interview, but we're biased. Here it is...

Chocolate Siztas

Lady Twist’s departure has alot of folks talking as she as one of the more talented and likeable contestants competing for the title. In the episode where she made her exit, much was made about her weight during a group competition where the ladies came up with a number called “Sweep the Flo”...

SOHH.com

First of all, like Serch said, Twist is not only a femcee, she's a storyteller. Unfortunately that worked against her this week. You don't necessarily have to be IN a story to tell it. BUT, she has ALWAYS been consistent, never f-cks up, and she seems like she takes time to think about what she's going to rhyme about instead of just going off her emotions... Damn. Sad day at the Fembassy. But don't fret. Unlike these other chicks, Twist shows signs of actually having a REAL future, whether its with rapping or becoming a journalist (GET THAT DEGREE, MAMA!). She'll be alright. ...i agree this was one of the dumbest episodes ive seen. Lady Twist DID NOT deserve to be sent home. it made me rethink watching this trash any further. im sick of Chiba too but Byata and the whole eye thing was extra but then again Chiba did play the "ur a white devil card" so u get wat u give...

After Ellen.com

Fast-rappin' hip-hop artist Lady Twist has been making a name for herself on VH1's ego trip's Miss Rap Supreme, hosted by MC Serch and female rapper Yo-Yo. The only openly lesbian rapper on the show, Lady Twist was eliminated this week after failing to impress the judges with her rap about drama in the Miss Rap Supreme house. The 22-year-old from the Chicago area tells those who have a problem with her sexuality to "love it or shove it," and she has big plans for her artistic career. In a telephone interview with AfterEllen.com, she talked about her hip-hop aspirations; her Midwestern heroes, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony; and why she thinks there are so few openly lesbian rappers...

Out Hip Hop.com

So, if anyone ever told you being on a reality show was not worth it, they maybe were not counting CD sales. Lady Twist has had her "The Demotape 2" the #6 best selling "Hip Hop/Comedy Rap album" out of THOUSANDS on CDbaby. com....
